Having now managed to see & treat all those patients who were ‘suffering’ during lock-down we are now open normal hours and available to see our own patients on a ‘need basis’. This includes outstanding regular fillings & other treatment now the severe emergencies have been dealt with.

Please phone 864295 for appointments (email info@eadp.co.uk for non urgent questions) as we still have to operate with a locked front door.

Due to the additional PPE & CV-19 cross infection control measures we and every other dental practice have had to implement, we can only use 2 of our 3 surgeries, and even these 2 surgeries have to be left empty (or ‘fallow’) for 60mins after treating any patient where a drill is used or any kind of ‘aerosol’ is generated.

These ‘aerosol generating procedures’ (or AGP’s) are the fundamental basis of most dental procedures (fillings, crowns, bridges, scaling & polishing etc) & so as you can imagine as we have to leave the surgery out of use for 60mins to ventilate & let any aerosol settle to the floor after each AGP this means we have severely restricted appointment numbers per day.

Add this to the fact that we have a small building, with little spare space & the necessity that we have to keep one extra totally clean & unused room to put on sterile PPE & write up notes (we cannot do this in the treatment surgeries due to CV-19 protocols) this means we have had to use our 3rd surgery for this rather than treat patients in there.

Currently the UK is at CV-19 threat level-3 which means all these extra protocols are in place for everyone’s safety. This threat level was lowered from level-4 recently, which was the reason dental practices were allowed to re-start treatment. As and when the Government lower the threat level to ‘2’ things in dentistry will likely start to return to a more normal situation, however when this is will occur is dependent on the virus becoming less prevalent in society nationally.

Please bear with us, we are here for you. If you ring & find the line busy, please be patient & keep trying, or email info@eadp.co.uk if your query is not urgent.

Ultimately things will get back to normal & this is in the foreseeable future.

All the best from us @EastAytonDentalPractice
